My interest in photography started when I was in high school. I took a photography class my sophomore year and purchased my first film camera, an Olympus OM-10 SLR. I took that camera with me everywhere I went and photographed anything and anyone in sight.

My passion for photography started soon after I purchased my first digital camera in 2003. That year my mother-in-law had been fighting a few illnesses and I could see that it was taking a toll on her. I wanted to give her a gift that showed her that I cared.

So I created a DVD slide show from photographs I had taken at various family gatherings throughout the year. She loved it, as did our entire family. It was amazing to see the look on her face as she smiled and laughed at the images on the screen. Those images were important to her and meant a lot to her. That was the moment my interest in photography became a passion.
